These stones have many stories to tell. They have been accumulating wisdom for eons from ceremonies, cosmic download and more. The vast amount of knowledge, energy, and intention that went into the design and construction of Stonehenge, is forever locked into the core essence of each stone. |

Almost every aspect of Stonehenge has a link somehow to our Universe.
Stonehenge is undeniable an ingeniously designed observatory.
Moonrises and moonsets are defined as well as those of the sun.
But when it comes down to it, Stonehenge seems to be build for just one specific moment in the year.
The summer solstice.

Some 100 yards away from the centre of Stonehenge stands the so called
Heelstone.
It is a single large block of Sarsen stone. On the day of the summer solstice, usually 21 June, you can,
while standing in Stonehenge, see the sun rise exactly above the Heelstone.
Every year, thousands of people come for the summer solstice to Stonehenge to witness this magical moment.

The picture on the right shows this magical moment from above. You can see how the big stones in the middle, which are arranged in a horseshoe shape, seam to embrace the first sunrays. You can also see the Heelstone and the direction of the sunrise. Studying this situation from above, I made a startling discovery. I drew not only the direction of the sunrise (yellow line) over Stonehenge, but also the direction of the sunset on the day of the summer solstice. The two yellow lines marking the sunrise and sunset form an angle of 103.5 degrees. I have studied this angle endlessly. It is the angle formed by 'Squaring the Circle'! |

Squaring the Circle is the phenomenon of a square and a circle of equal circumference or of equal surface area.
Through the ages many great minds have studied this phenomenon. Pythagoras, Archimedes, Galilei, Newton, are just a few.
The fascination for squaring the circle has made it appear at the most unlikely and intriguing places.
For instance in the Cathedral of Aachen
But also in the Vatican and at CERN
The Great Pyramid is, by means of the angle of its slope, fully based on squaring the circle.

And now it turns out that even Stonehenge contains 'Squaring the Circle'. And it doesn't stop there.

Addendum Several readers have pointed out that the sun rises during the summer solstice more to the north than I seem to indicate in my article. You could reword this: The Heelstone is placed in the wrong spot. The sun rises at the summer solstice slightly more to the north then indicated by the stone. But ... as soon as the sun appears from behind the stone, it exactly lines up with the stone! In other words: The Heelstone is placed in exactly the right spot to make ‘squaring the circle’ possible. It defines ‘squaring the circle’. The sun rises during the summer solstice a little to the north of the stone, but as soon as she appears from behind the stone, she also is in exactly the correct spot to define ‘squaring the circle’. Can it be that the Heelstone was placed at the spot where she is to define ‘squaring the circle’ and not (as usually is believed) to indicate sunrise at the summer solstice? In his book 'the Organizing Principle' Bert Janssen elaborates on this situation and others of comparable quality... |
